Ever tried to lose weight by counting calories or trying out the latest fad diet?

If so, then you probably found out the hard way: It doesn’t work.

In fact, 97% of dieters who go this route regain the weight they lost.

For starters, there’s the biological effect of dieting. When you deprive your body of certain foods or calories, it thinks “ah, I’m starving!” And as a survival instinct, your metabolism slows down. Hunger hormone levels increase. And satiety hormone levels decrease. So you feel hungrier even when you eat less.

The other problem is that diets aren’t practical for real life. They don’t bode well with busy schedules, travel, work lunches, cocktail parties, kids, and social events.

At best, they may work in the short-term. But as soon as you lose weight, you go back to real life and your regular routine (because who wants to count calories or restrict certain foods forever?!)

As a result, you regain the weight you lost… and the cycle starts all over again.

But guess what?

You don’t have to count calories, weigh or measure your food, or eat food out of a box to lose weight.

The key to sustainable weight loss requires three things:

  • 1. Following a plan that’s personalized to you

Everyone has different lifestyles, preferences, and tastes. To achieve sustainable weight loss success, you need a plan that works for you. Not one that you have to conform to.

  • 2. Making incremental changes over time

Rather than try to make massive changes overnight, it’s much more effective to make subtle changes over time. First conquer one goal. And then work your way to the next one.

  • 3. Knowing your food triggers – and how to deal with them

For weight loss to be sustainable, you also need to take into account the psychological and behavioral aspects of eating.

For example…

👉 Do you eat when you’re stressed or bored

👉 Do you make poor food choices when you drink alcohol

👉 Are you a 12AM snacker?

In what situations do you make poor food choices? And how do you deal with those temptations when they arise?

Knowing the answers to those questions and having a plan in place will help you to not only lose weight – it’ll help you keep it off for good.

Hi, I’m Heather Bauer

Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, author, and founder of The Food Fix

Years ago, I was working as The Nutrition Program Director at Equinox Fitness Clubs and Maimonides Medical Center in NYC.

At the time, many of my clients wanted to lose weight. But they were so busy with work, raising their families, and life, they just didn’t have time.

So I came up with a system to help them.

For each of my clients, I created a personalized nutrition plan and provided them with close one-on-one support. Helping them make incremental changes to their eating habits. While recognizing (and responding to) their food triggers.

I found that approach to be WAY more successful than any diet or “eat this, not that” type of program.

After using that system to help hundreds of my clients lose weight, I went on to start my private practice on Park Avenue in NYC. And now, I serve clients all over the world via Zoom.

I’ve since coached 7,000+ people one-on-one (mostly women). And have helped millions of people lose weight via my coaching programs and two bestselling books: The Wall Street Diet and Bread is the Devil.

You may have seen me on CNN, The New York Times, Good Morning America, The View, Huffington Post, Access Hollywood, Shape, Women’s Health, Ellen and much more.

All that to say…I’m a normal person (really)! I love chicken wings and french fries just like everyone else. But – after spending years studying nutrition and the psychology behind eating – I know when and where to make the right decision.

And I can help you do the same.

I’ve hand-selected the BEST Registered Dietician Nutritionists I could find (each one with 10+ years of experience). I’ve trained them on my proven weight loss methodology. And asked them to help YOU lose weight. Without being hungry or feeling deprived of the foods you love.

Say hello to…

Get matched with a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with 10+ years of clinical experience

Let’s be honest. These days, anyone can call themselves a “nutritionist” or “weight loss coach.” And with over 90,000 registered dieticians in the US, it’s hard to find someone who really knows what they’re talking about.

At the Food Fix, we don’t pawn you off on some inexperienced “weight loss coach” in a far-off land. All of our nutritionists are vetted, trained, and licensed. And they all have at least 10 years of experience.

We look for Registered Dietician Nutritionists (RDNs) who have clinical experience in a hospital setting. And in weight loss nutrition.

We also look for RDNs who are supportive, kind, and good listeners.

Many nutrition programs out there ask you a few questions and then rely on AI or an algorithm to create a program that’s “personalized” to you.

We do things a little differently.

We’ll start by asking you to complete a detailed questionnaire, asking you things like:

  • What part of the day do you feel most hungry?

  • How many nights per week do you eat out?

  • Do you finish everything on your plate or do you stop eating when you’re full?

  • Do you make better food choices when you eat alone or when in social situations?

  • In what situations do you tend to make poor food choices?

…And much more.

A weight loss program that’s personalized to your lifestyle (and backed by science)

Based on the answers to those questions, your nutritionist will develop a personalized, science-backed weight loss plan catered to your goals, lifestyle, preferences, tastes and triggers (one that doesn’t require giving up your favorite foods for good!).

And then they’ll work with you on a continual basis to ensure you’re meeting your weight loss goals.

Get strategies to deal with real-life situations that trigger bad food choices

When you’re at home in a controlled environment, it’s pretty easy to eat healthy. But what happens when you’re at a work dinner? Or a cocktail party? Or too busy during the day to sit down and eat lunch?

We’ll help you understand what triggers you to make bad food choices – and help you come up with ways to deal with them.

For example, let’s say you’re a late-night eater and your go-to is the cookie jar. Your nutritionist might recommend that you keep sliced turkey in the fridge and target that instead. Why? Because no one eats turkey at night unless they’re hungry.

Or maybe you find yourself eating two dinners: one with your kids and then another for yourself. Your nutritionist might recommend that you have dinner before the kids so you cut out that second meal.

Whatever your food traps are, our nutritionists have a strategy to put them in their place.

Form healthier eating habits with food journaling

“If you bite it, write it.”

That’s my philosophy. And guess what? It WORKS. When you write down what you eat, you (and your nutritionist) can detect patterns in your eating habits – which is key to changing your behavior (and losing weight).

Don’t believe me? One study found that people who kept records of their eating habits lost twice as much (!!) as those who didn’t.

When you join The Food Fix, you’ll keep track of all the foods you eat. That way, you can gain a better understanding of your eating habits (and what, how much and why you’re eating).

Your nutritionist will be there to support you, give you feedback, and answer all of your burning questions.

Many other nutritionists take on a gazillion clients at a time. Which means none of them get the personalized attention they deserve.

At The Food Fix, our practitioners don’t take on many clients. That way, they can give you the close one-on-one support and attention that you need to meet your weight loss goals.

Video (or audio) check-ins

You’ll meet with your nutritionist one-on-one via video (or audio) to track your progress. If needed, they’ll make tweaks to your program as you go along.

We walk you through the plan and coach you via video, voice, and text to keep you motivated and progressing toward your goal.

Anytime texting*

Got a work dinner coming up and not sure what to eat? Strayed from your nutrition plan and want to get things back on track?

You can text your nutritionist anytime with a question or concern – and they’ll get back to you ASAP (within one business day or less).

Feedback on your food journaling*

Get support between check-ins with feedback on your food journaling. Your nutritionist will tell you what you’re doing well – and what you can improve on.

*Only available with the Reset and Transform Plans

Melissa has lost 10 pounds so far – without exercising or depriving herself of ice cream

Heather changed my life! I was in such a dark place and the weight just kept going up. After this past year of being home and the changes from the pandemic I was in a bad spot.

I decided to take control of my life which included more than just my eating habits. I was ready to take on this challenge but knew I could not do it alone. From my first consultation with Heather I knew I made the right decision. We started right away and she took the time to explain everything to me from the importance of fats, proteins, water, and in my diet.

I started with Heather on July 1st and it is now September 5th and I am down 10lbs. I have learned how to have a balanced diet including my love for ice cream and still staying healthy. Oh yeah did I mention I didn't exercise once, nope not once. Heather and I worked on healthy living no-stress ways and took it one step at a time. I literally could go on for hours but by now you have probably stopped reading. If you are looking for a yes or no to work with Heather, here is your answer YES!!! Do it!

Nope, you won’t be hungry on the Food Fix. And answers to other smart questions working women like you had before joining.

  • Not at all! You don’t have to starve yourself to see results. In fact, our philosophy is that if you are hungry all the time, you can’t be successful. We have a number of strategies that help you feel fuller, longer and that will make you not need to eat between meals.

  • No, but upon request and with a written diagnosis from your physician, we will provide you with a coded bill that you can submit to your insurance carrier. We are all Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN) and licensed in the State we operate in.

  • Truth is, insurance companies don’t pay enough to provide the level of support that we’ve proven is required to achieve sustainable weight loss. We hope the insurance companies catch up to reality but until then…

A nutritionist who’s getting paid $80/month by an insurance company won’t respond to your burning questions ASAP, like ours will.

And you’d be hard-pressed to find registered dietician nutritionists with over 10 years of experience who are covered by insurance.

  • We’ve worked with clients remotely and in-person. And we’ve found that the remote programs are much more effective because they give our clients access to their nutritionist at all times (within reason… they probably won’t respond at 2AM!).

So if you’re out at a work event… or getting ready for a cocktail party… you can shoot your nutritionist a message and ask them questions like “what should I eat? Here are the options” or “What drink(s) should I have to avoid a hangover tomorrow?”

  • We offer a complimentary consultation with your nutritionist before you begin to make sure it’s a good fit.

But if it’s not, you don’t have to have an awkward conversation with them telling them it’s not the right fit. All you have to do is send us a message and we’ll match you with someone else.

  • Every case is different but most of our clients see encouraging results within the first 30 days. And major results within the first 90 days.

We don’t promise overnight results (because that isn’t safe, reliable or sustainable). But if you stick with it, you will see results.

So… are you ready to manage your weight without giving up your favorite foods?
